2017 Line Up

The line up for 2016 was jam packed and 2017 will be bigger and better. The dates for the festival for 2017 are 12th – 22nd of August.

Heritage Day 
With so much variety there is something for everyone on Heritage Day. Sit yourself on the hay bales while you watch the craftspeople show skills from Ireland of old or listen to the live music and watch Irish dancing. Maybe you fancy a bit of seafood or an Irish coffee to quench your thirst. Buy handmade goods, gifts and souvenirs and if you really want to get into the spirit – don’t forget your fancy dress and you could win a prize.

Family Sports Day
We can’t wait to welcome the local community for a day of fun and games. Please invite family and friends along on the day to enjoy the many games & activities and behind Aras Inis Gluaire.

Busking
There are plenty of pitches and lots of people waiting to be entertained by street performers. Contact us if you would like a pitch. We welcome children of all ages to bring their instruments, singing voices or dancing feet to entertain.

Fantasy Football
Fun for all whatever your skills or age. Our local football club Iorrais Aontaithe/ Erris United will be running this free event held at the sate of the art park in the heart of Belmullet.

Tuesday 15th August
La an Logha/Fair Day
Belmullet is one of the few towns in Ireland where the monthly fair still takes place all year round on the 15th of the month. Fair Day in August or La an Logha, the day of indulgence, is one of the biggest. Come and meet friends, look around the stalls and enjoy live entertainment on the square.

Wednesday 16th August
Craft Sessions

Join in and get creative with one of our festival craft activities. Paint a plate, sewing, pottery, painting and more. It’s fun for all the family or leave the kids to get creative. Sessions last about one hour. Booking is advisable to avoid disappointment.

Pig Racing
SNORTS and squeals of excitement and that’s just from the pigs! Belmullet town will be filled with excitement as punters place their bets and collect their winnings. Come along and bet on your favourite porkers.

Seisiún Comhaltas
A traditional gathering with music and dancing. The fiddle and flute and all the usual favourites will provide the music for the jigs and reels. A new addition to the festival for 2016 it’s sure to be a lively and fun evening.

Town Treasure Hunt                                                       
How well do you know the town? Think you can find your way round using only cryptic clues? Then why not join the town treasure hunt. Come alone or in a group. It’s a great way to see the town in a different light.

Car Treasure Hunt
The competition hots up every year as the clues become more cryptic. Do you know Erris well enough to crack the clues? Cars start at Arás Inís Gluaire and follow clues round Erris.

Fun on the water with water sports for the under 12s followed by a Kayak race for the 12+. Kayak and life jackets will be supplied. Come along and have some fun.

Tower Hill Walk
All proceeds to Aughalaseheen National School. Contact Anne on 0861611799 for more details. Walk starts at 12pm with registration from 11am.

Mayo House Party
Like in olden days people would call to the house and a party would break out around the fire. The first of it’s kind in the county this is an evening not to be missed. Traditional Irish music and Irish dancing at it’s very best. The house party is the start of the festival closing event.

Festival Street Party & Fireworks
The 2017 Festival welcomes a fabulous evening of music and entertainment on Main Street and Quay Street for all the family. A fireworks display will take place on the Quay. A spectacle not to be missed.

Duck Racing
They are under starters orders and they are off. Duck Racing hosted by Erris United. Come along and try your luck! Ducks for the race can be purchased on Heritage Day and Fair Day via Erris United.

Tuesday 22nd August
Raft Race
The final day of the festival is fun filled and fantastic. Build your raft and them come along to pitch your strength and skill against the other contenders. Teams of 4. Minimum age 16. All entries must wear life vests and helmets.
